On 19th of March, 20 competitors competed to be the winner of the 2010 Callebaut Easter Showpiece Competition. The competition in its 9th year was held at Crown Casino in Melbourne. With the theme ‘Child’s Play’, event manager Kirsten Tibballs (Callebaut ambassador for Australia) stated that ‘The interpretation of the theme from all entries was amazing and fulfilled expectations of the judging panel’.
Each entry was presented with anononymitty and judged by panel of professional judges who have expertise in chocolate. As well there was one media judge.
1st place went to Jordon Schrader
2nd place went to Tim Clarke
3rd place went to Michelle Corben, Michelle also won the media’s choice.
On behalf of event sponsor Callebaut, Gary Willis also thanks Crown Casino and Savour Chocolate and Patisserie School for their support of this competition. Without industry support for competitions such as this, Pastry chefs and chocolatiers do not get the opportunity to expand their skills such as they do in this competition.
For his prize, Jordon Schrader will now travel to Belgium and attend a course at the famed Callebaut Chocolate Academy.
