Added January 31, 2012

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has announced that it will have a major presence at the upcoming Foodservice Australia expo, to be held in Sydney from May 27-29, reflecting the importance of the foodservice sector to beef, lamb and goat meat sales. As well as exhibiting the industry body will also be sponsoring the Chef of the Year, Apprentice of the Year and the new bakery association Best Pie competitions.

“The foodservice sector represents around 30 per cent of domestic red meat consumption and the expo provides the opportunity to showcase red meat on farm developments, industry initiatives and menu development opportunities to decision makers across all levels of the industry”, said Roger Bond, marketing manager foodservice.

MLA will be showcasing the latest red meat menu ideas and ways to make more money from beef and lamb. On the stand there will be butchery demonstrations, a Masterpieces program - using secondary cuts to create dishes - and beef tastings to illustrate the difference between grass-fed, grain-fed and wagyu beef.

“The foodservice show is the perfect forum for us to network with chefs and other food professionals because of its total focus on the industry,” said Bond.
